Driver — The Offer
Offered Pay
The number Instacart shows you before you accept a batch. Includes their base pay plus any tip the customer pre-entered.
Total Miles
The full distance of the batch. Some drivers use the miles shown in the Instacart offer (store to drop-off), others enter the full trip including driving to the store first. Either way, Duly doubles it internally to estimate your round-trip driving cost back to your zone. The calculation assumes you return to your starting point after the drop-off — if your next batch or home base is near the drop-off, your actual cost will be lower.
Drop-off Stops
The number of separate delivery addresses in the batch. More stops means more time spent parking, walking, and waiting — even if the total miles are low.
Driver — Grocery
Number of Items
Total items in the batch. Used with your shopping pace to estimate how long you'll be in the store.
Shopping Pace
How fast you move through the store. Instacart tracks this as seconds per item — from when you tap Start Shopping to when you tap Head to Checkout, including checkout itself. Fast = 1 min/item, Avg = 1.5, Slow = 2.
Driver — Food
Expected Wait
How long you expect to wait at the restaurant before the order is ready. This time costs you nothing in gas but counts against your hourly rate.
Driver — Results
Est. Driving Cost
A rough estimate based on $0.21 per mile, round trip. This is meant to give you a ballpark for fuel — not a precise accounting of your vehicle costs. Your real number depends on your MPG and local gas prices.
Net Pay
Offered pay minus estimated driving cost. What you actually pocket from this batch before accounting for your time.
Effective Rate
Net pay divided by estimated total time. Your real hourly earnings for this batch. The verdict is based on this number — above $15/hr is Take It, $10–15 is Your Call, below $10 is Let It Go.
Drive + Delivery
Estimated driving time (round trip) plus time spent at each drop-off. Always at least 5 minutes even for 0-mile batches to account for walking and handoff.
Customer
Order Size
A rough measure of how much work the driver does at the restaurant. Small = a drink or snack, one or two items. Medium = a typical meal for 1–2 people. Large = a bigger meal, multiple people, or a complex order. Catering = a large group order with heavy bags and multiple containers.
Distance
How far the store or restaurant is from your delivery address. Longer distance means more time and gas for your driver.
Suggested Tip
A fair tip based on your order size, distance, and any extra factors like stairs or bad weather. Not a minimum — just what the work is actually worth.
